Little League Africa
The Power to Inspire, Unite and Transform Lives
Little League brings the joy of baseball and softball to children worldwide, fostering dreams and shaping futures. The benefits for children – on and off the field – are profound and life-changing. They unite youth through their shared passion for the game.
Baseball and softball are gaining incredible momentum across Africa. Local Federations create enthusiasm for the game with vibrant programs for boys and girls of all ages. They provide a beacon of hope, offering an empowering environment for youth to thrive, grow, and believe in brighter possibilities.
The Federations are eager to develop their Little League programs and give children the chance to be part of a worldwide community.
Teams need to play 12 regular season games in order to qualify for Little League competitions. Because they are often located far apart, the Federations coordinate weekend events to allow teams to play several games at once.
It’s a great solution but the cost to participate is beyond the reach for these children and their families.
Little League Africa project lead, Ruth Hoffman, will fundraise to create a Player Travel Fund to help players with bus fare, food and lodging.
Creating more opportunities for children to play games amplifies both the joy and the transformative impact of participating in sports. Through competition, young athletes gain valuable life lessons in resilience, discipline, and teamwork.
Competition doesn’t just challenge—it inspires excellence. There is tremendous talent waiting to be nurtured. Major League Baseball has already taken notice: several players have been drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates and Los Angeles Dodgers.
Little League is the perfect program to develop children’s potential. If teams can find a way to complete 12 games, players will have the chance to dream about competing in the Little League World Series – sharing the same passion with thousands of children around the world.
