David Yuill, who worked at Stand Tall as a teacher candidate in April, was recognized by UBC with an Outstanding Community Field Experience Award. In the space of 3 short weeks, Dave managed to put up two flagpoles flying the Ugandan and Canadian flags, created lesson plans about maple syrup that had our students begging for more, shared his experiences extensively on social media, helped where he was needed, responded to a new situation and culture with flexibility, curiosity and enthusiasm, and was generally appreciated by everyone at Stand Tall. He is now a full fledged teacher working his magic in the Canadian classroom.
