Rose Charities is excited to announce a new project in Haiti!
Our new project provides sports and educational activities for children and youth in the area of Mirogoane which is located in Haiti’s southwest. Several of these children and teenagers were orphaned after the January 2010 earthquake in Haiti.
Jean Lubin, who was born and raised in Haiti, started this project in 2012 after he visited Miragoane for the first time. Jean was surprised by the level of poverty in Miragoane and to see so many kids hanging out in the streets. He learned that many of these kids returned to Miragoane from the capital, Port au Prince, to live with extended family or friends after the earthquake and many can not afford to go to school. Jean felt moved to help in some positive way.
Working with a committed group of young men and women in Miragoane, Jean organized a soccer camp for children and youth in August 2012 then again in August 2013. Each camp provided a nutritious meal, sessions with singing and stories or skits, health and other education. Both were great successes!
Jean and his partners in Miragoane will be planning another soccer camp for next August 2014. They are currently planning a Youth Retreat for February 2014 along with other activities. Stay tuned for future up-dates!
Soon you will also be able to read a detailed description of this project which will be listed under the “Our Projects” tab on our website.
