In addition to the successful Youth Retreat this past spring and the fourth Soccer Camp this past summer, other activities with the Miragoane, Haiti project continue:
GOAT PROJECT: This past August 2015, six additional donated female goats were gifted to six orphans to raise and breed to earn income to pay for school fees and school supplies. With this project, a total of 37 orphans have received a donated goat over the past year and a half. We are in the process of learning exactly how many donated goats have had offspring to evaluate the success of the project. A few orphans have offered to give the first kid their donated goat had back to the project but, to encourage these orphans and allow them to earn a bit more income, the project committee decided to accept their second kid instead of their first.
At least 33 more orphans are hopeful to receive a donated goat so they can put themselves through school. Consider donating a goat now!

SEED PROJECT: Unfortunately, this past spring there was little rain in Haiti so the donated corn and bean seeds provided to a small group of farmers in Miragoane did not grow. When the rainfall was inadequate, the committee held off giving out more seeds so some corn seeds are left to distribute in the spring of 2016. We are still welcoming donations for seeds, so that we can continue to help farmers regain their livelihoods. A $20 donation will provide much needed seeds for a group of farmers.
